USPS Digital Mandate

New Meter Requirements from the U.S. Postal Service

MAILwaukee is providing this information as a service to our clients. We wish to help you achieve compliance with the new decertification and meter replacement deadlines.

The USPS decertification involves two distinct mandates, with separate deadlines, pertaining to all rotary postage meters. The first, Phase 3, requires all rotary meters without an automatic shot-off capacity (timeout feature) to be removed from service by December 31, 2006. The second mandate, Phase 4, requires all security enhanced rotary meters be upgraded to digital meters by December 31, 2008.

The purpose of this USPS meter migration enhancement program is to strengthen the security of postal funds and to help build a foundation for the future of "intelligent" mail. Fraudulent acts and misuse of postal funds are costly to the Postal Service and individual businesses.

We encourage you to take the time to understand the decertification process, and take the necessary steps to meet the USPS deadlines. Our team at MAILwaukee would be happy to help you out with any questions you might have.
